NEW YORK (Reuters) - MetLife Inc. , the No. 1 U.S. life insurer, on Thursday posted a 29 percent increase in fourth-quarter earnings, beating analyst expectations, as its acquisition strategy paid off with higher revenue from premiums and annuities.
